Technical translations for English-Latvian
PRODOC creates Latvian technical translations for you. Technical translation and revision is carried out exclusively by native speakers.
PRODOC provides you with English-Latvian translations for many technical sectors. For example, for sensor technology, drive technology, medical technology and laboratory technology or safety at work.
However, suppliers of products for safety at work are obliged to do so. You must have the associated manuals translated into Latvian. The same applies to suppliers of products for explosion protection.
Our price calculator gives you a quick overview of the expected costs.
Latvian is the official language of Latvia and one of the twenty-four official languages of the EU. The language is spoken predominantly in the country itself. Technical documentation is usually not translated into Latvian.
We translate into Latvian mostly for suppliers from the automotive industry, safety at work and explosion protection. And of course we translate operating instructions into Latvian for those products that are intended for end users.

English-Latvian: a challenge in the face of neologisms
Latvia was under foreign rule for more than seven centuries. Consequently, this is one of the reasons why Latvian vocabulary contains many loan words from Russian, German and Swedish. However, Latvia’s joining the EU and the translation of numerous legal texts have revealed gaps in the Latvian language. A state translation agency checks and develops neologisms. On the one hand, this has an impact on our technical translations into Latvian. On the other hand, our specialist translators must not only master the technology, but also keep an eye on the newly developed words and undergo continuous training.
Latvian has been an official language of the EU since May 1, 2004
Latvia is one of the poorest countries in the EU. Even the fragile economic upturn has so far been unable to change this. The average net salary is only just over 200 euros. There are also major differences between Latvia’s capital Riga and the rural areas.
